Bachelor's Degrees
Bachelor degrees are offered by universities and 4-year colleges and require 120 to 128 semester credits. A maximum of 60 community or junior college credits can be used towards a bachelor’s degree. The coursework includes general education requirements, electives, and major coursework.

Types of Bachelor degree Programs:

Universities and 4 years colleges generally offer two types of Bachelor’s degrees: the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and the Bachelor of Science (B.S.).
  • Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree programs allow the student to build an extensive liberal arts and sciences foundation and will consist of at least 40 semester (60 quarter) hours of general education (GE) coursework. GE courses will include 5 semester (8 quarter) hours of communications and at least 8 semester (12 quarter) hours in Humanities, Social Science, and Natural Sciences or mathematics. The 11 remaining GE credits can be selected freely from any of the above categories.
  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) will consist of at least 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of general education (GE) coursework divided amongst Humanities, Social Science, Communication, and Natural Sciences or mathematics.
